Memberships

Joining the club

The emphasis is on family membership, which includes the boat owner, spouse or partner, and family members up to the age of 18.

Members are restricted to one boat per boat space, with a maximum of two boats per membership (subject to spaces being available). Boats must be mono-hulled sailing craft, no longer than 16' (4.8 m).

Boat insurance and a River Thames license from the Environment Agency are essential.

Probationary membership

We often receive enquiries from people who wish to start sailing for the first time or re-discover the joys after a period of absence but who do not, yet, have a boat of their own.

As the club's constitution requires all members to have a sailing craft, we have introduced a 'probationary' membership. This means that new members can join and make use of the club boats whilst they decide what sort of dinghy they need.

Initially, probationary membership is granted for one year and is subject to review thereafter. If a probational member acquires a boat they will automatically be granted full membership status and, subject to availability, allocated a boat space.
